Myles Langstone

The Welsh Conservatives have selected their candidate for Gower in next year’s Senedd elections.

Local councillor Myles Langstone, who represents Oystermouth on the City & County of Swansea Council, was born and brought up locally.

Myles lists education, health and supporting the local economy as his priorities. This includes securing more money for local schools, supporting the growth of local businesses, job creation and preventing any increases in income tax by Welsh Government.

Following his selection, Myles said, “I am proud to have been selected to stand in my home constituency and thank everyone who has put their faith in me.

“I think it is essential that Gower is represented by someone who knows the area and as I was born and live in Gower, I understand the issues that matter to our community and I am passionate about making sure that Gower reaches its full potential.”

As a councillor, Myles has delivered on a number of projects locally, including a new children’s play area for Underhill Park and he set up his own community group, Friends of Mumbles Parks, to achieve this.

Throughout the Coronavirus pandemic Myles has been part of the Covid-19 Operations Team in Mumbles, helping people locally to access the food and medicines they need.

Myles has also been a keen supporter of local businesses during this challenging time, with a view to injecting life back into Mumbles.

He added, “During the Coronavirus pandemic I was keen to help businesses, particularly those that didn’t have the space to operate within the Covid-guidance. In response to this, I created the Independent Food & Drinks area at Southend Gardens, an initiative which not only helped to save local businesses but created new jobs! I want to put this energy into helping all of our communities in Gower thrive. We need an MS who is passionate about the Gower constituency and I will work tirelessly to champion our community.”
